Office of the Block Development Officer, Thingdawl RD Block was established in september, 1974. Currently four major Rural Development Scheme are implemented by the Office.
1) MGNREGA : 100 days wage employment is provided to all Job Card holders who demand for employment under the scheme. There is a separate MGNREGA cell under the Office with technical experts and field level administrative assistants who look after the overall implementation of the scheme.
A wide range of assets are being created under the scheme covering various categories like Agri and Allied sector, soil and water conservation, rural connectivity, rural infrastructure, etc.
Currently, there are 5962 Job Card Holders within Thingdawl RD Block.
2) MzSRLM : Mizoram State Rural Livelihoods Mission, aimed at eradicating poverty in the rural areas of Mizoram was implemented in Thingdawl RD Block in the year 2013.
There is a separate Block Mission Management Unit Cell in the Office with various thematic specialists who look after the overall implementation of various aspects of the scheme. Currently, there are 371 SHGs, 25 VOs and 2 CLFs within Thingdawl RD Block.
Loans given out to SHG members are used to take up activities for enhancing their livelihoods and boosting the local economy.
3) PMKSY 2.0 : The Office of the Block Development Officer, Thingdawl RD Block implements PMKSY 2.0 since 2022. The village covered under this project is Thingdawl village and the total project area is 2500 Hectares. Various activities undertaken under the scheme include development works like natural resource management, livelihood activities for assetless persons/SHGs, production system for farmers within the watershed area, etc.
4) PMAY-G : Till date, there are 604 beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yozna Grameen under Thingdawl RD Block.
